Wrap yarn around index finger & middle finger, and anchor tail between middle finger and ring finger.
Insert hook underneath first strand of yarn. Catch second strand with hook and pull a loop up underneath first strand.
Remove fingers from ring and hold working end of yarn.
Chain 2. (One ch to anchor ring, and one ch as the turning ch for first round.)
Stitching around ring just created, work as many stitches as called for in first round of pattern. There are 4 sc stitches worked in video example.
Pull up a long loop. Pull tail to front of piece. Grasping both ends firmly, tighten ring.
Insert hook into long loop and tighten.
Making certain tail is to the back, skip first ch sts worked and insert hook into first sc of round.
Yarn over and pull through stitch and loop on hook. Voilà!
